This War of Mine Wiki

My life wasn't easy, but things were looking up before. I've met Petr and suddenly everything started to make sense. We moved in together, I got pregnant... and the war broke out. This child is all I have left of him.

–Livia's Description

Overview[]

Livia is a playable character introduced with the Final Cut update. She had been in a loving marriage with Petr and became pregnant shortly before the war began. With her husband presumed dead, Livia now hopes to survive the war for her unborn child, which is all she has left of her husband.

Livia shares her trait Good Cook with Bruno. She can prepare Cooked Meals, Moonshine, Pure Alcohol, and Medications with fewer resources than the other survivors.

Livia is also pregnant, and her pregnancy is treated as a character state. Under this state, Livia can't sprint, leave the shelter or be assigned to guard duty. However, she will participate in defending the shelter if raided, and use melee weapons or firearms if available.

Livia cannot die, much like children. She instead leaves the shelter if she’s the last survivor, or as soon as she reaches any state among starving, terminally ill and lethally wounded.

Livia's in-game appearance

Appearance[]

Livia wears a brown cardigan over a pink shirt, and a pair of grayish-blue jeans.

Personality[]

Livia belongs to the altruistic archetype. She has a caring and nurturing personality as a soon-to-be mother and responsible housewife. She's particularly concerned about her unborn child's well-being. Most of her thoughts are of her child, and she's often seen directly talking to the child.

Livia is very idealistic and morally aware. She heavily disapproves of immoral actions like theft or murder on principle, even against bandits and soldiers. However, she’ll make an exception if it’s part of an on-site quest (e.g. the snipers at the Construction Site or the soldier at the Supermarket). Conversely, she will become happy by aiding other NPCs in all cases. She's also very concerned if a fellow survivor is suffering from negative statuses. If her mood is negative, she’ll likely sob all night and disturb others’ sleep. She likely won’t rob the shelter when leaving.

If traumatized enough, she will permanently shift to the apathic [sic] modifier. Livia turns more indifferent and apathetic, and consequently less sensitive to all events, as she becomes hopeless about her situation and resigned to her fate.

Strategy[]

For notes related to Livia's trait, refer to Bruno's strategy section.

With her constant state of pregnancy, Livia can do little but care for the shelter during daytime. Her inability to run hinders her ability to do time-sensitive tasks (like operating the Rainwater Collector), so those tasks should be left to other survivors. On the upside, tasks that she gets a bonus on (like cooking or brewing) aren't time-based. Since Livia cannot perform guard duty or go out to scavenge, she can only sleep during the night. To avoid incurring a "Slept Poorly" status it would be best to reserve one bed for her every night.

Livia can physically endure less than other survivors (in other words, she effectively leaves the game when she reaches less severe states than others). As a result, it is important to satisfy, or perhaps even prioritize her needs, compared to the other survivors'.

Character Story[]

  1. "I remember meeting Petr for the first time like it was yesterday. Our eyes met and I knew immediately that something has changed. War took him away from me, but his child growing under my heart and this memory give me strength to survive."
  2. "When the war started, we moved into the basement of our apartment house. Petr dealt with getting supplies, I tried to keep house. One night, a very heavy bombardment started when he was out. I never saw him again."
  3. "This child... it's a blessing. When I learned I'm pregnant, I was beside myself with joy. It's harder to survive this damned war, sure... But this child is all I have left of Petr. It's my reason to live."
  4. "I just felt something wonderful. Our child... it moved! This war needs to end soon. I don't want to give birth in these circumstances. I wonder if it's a girl or a boy...

Traumatized variants:[]

  1. "I remember meeting Petr for the first time like it was yesterday. Our eyes met and I knew immediately that something has changed. But war took him away from me... I'm trying to hold on, but knowing I'll never see him again, I often despair. Only his child growing under my heart keeps me from giving up."
  2. "When the war started, we moved into the basement of our apartment house. Petr dealt with getting supplies, I tried to keep house. One night, when he was out, dozens of mortar shells started raining upon the city. One of the blasts I've heard that night must've been the last thing my Petr heard..."
  3. "This child... I'm thinking about it all the time. It's all I have left of my Petr, the only reason for me to struggle. But... it makes it all so much harder... I don't know if I can survive this war."
  4. "Sometimes I think if it wouldn't be better if we'd never met. He would be somewhere out there, still alive... and my life couldn't be any more miserable. But our child.... maybe it's worth the struggle."
