“ | We used to live not far from here. When the first shellings started, we moved into the basement for safety. We tried to make it as comfortable as possible, but it was still cold, dark and damp. There were also rats. Iskra is afraid of them, but I told her to be strong. She spent most of the time in that basement, while I went out each day to get some supplies. | ” |
–Christo's Description |
Overview[]
Christo is one of the The Little Ones exclusive Playable Characters. Selecting Christo automatically pairs him with his daughter Iskra. He now has to survive the war with his daughter after they were flushed from their home by the military.
He is a Determined Father. Due to his determination to protect Iskra, Christo remains alert, reducing his sleeping time by half (2.5 hours as opposed to 5) and giving him the highest guarding proficiency in the game, on par with Roman.
He is abstinent; he has no addictions and doesn't drink Pure Alcohol or Moonshine.

Appearance[]
Christo wears a dark brown jacket over a white hoodie, plus a pair of brown pants.
Personality[]
Christo belongs to the homie archetype. As a parent, and having spent a lot of time holed up with his neighbors in a basement, he seems to be very caring.
Christo has a great sense of community. He’s greatly sensitive to the needs of others around him, and is always happy to help those in need. He's easily depressed by his fellow survivors' distress, as well as atrocities committed against other civilians. However, he has an easier time brushing off crimes against dangerous individuals like bandits and soldiers, arguing that they're a threat to the community as a whole. If his mood is negative, he’s likely to lose sleep, possibly prompting another survivor to stay awake and console him. He will never rob the shelter when leaving.
If traumatized enough, he will permanently shift to the apathic [sic] modifier. Christo turns more indifferent and apathetic, and consequently less sensitive to all events, as he becomes hopeless about his situation and resigned to his fate.
As all guardian adults, Christo is greatly affected by the status of his bonded child. He will become happier just from seeing Iskra well and happy, and is easily distressed if she's suffering.
Strategy[]
Like Marko and Pavle, Christo has no notable drawbacks, being at least average in scavenging, combat, guarding and consoling. He can fill any role as required.
Christo's insomnia gives him more time to take care of Iskra in addition to the other various shelter tasks he must accomplish, which comes in handy in his own scenario, as he has to manage the shelter all by himself for a few days before more survivors arrive. Try to keep him occupied during the night to take advantage of this trait, especially when he can both scavenge and guard reliably.
His guarding proficiency deserves special mention. Once again, this ability seems to be tailor-made for his own scenario, allowing him to defend his daughter from harm efficiently without help for the first few days. For additional notes, refer to Roman's strategy section, taking into account of a greater opportunity cost if Christo is the best avaliable scavenger.
Christo's high empathy means it's inadvisable to let him make bad moral choices, more so than other survivors of the same archetype, as he can't use Moonshine or Pure Alcohol to regain morale due to his abstinence.
Recruitment Speech[]
“ | Hello, my name is Christo, and this is my daughter Iskra. We had been living in the basement of our house for the last couple of months but the soldiers forced us to leave. You look like decent people, so I'll ask you straight: Can we stay with you? Iskra is too young, but I'll work to earn it. As a teenager I used to help my parents a lot in chopping wood to heat our house, so that can be my duty here as well. What do you say? | ” |
Death Note[]
“ | With Christo dead, little Iskra will only have her mother left. | ” |
–Note on dead body |
Character Story[]
- "Many people in our area moved to their basements as a precaution. We all felt much safer there, even though the life conditions were not the best. I heard stories of people buried alive in their basements, but I didn't tell them to Iskra, I didn't want her to be afraid."
- "When a shell hit our house, burying our neighbors in their basement, everyone rushed to help. We managed to pull out our neighbor and her son, but her husband had been crushed. Iskra did not see him, but since that day she has been having nightmares of being buried beneath the rubble."
- "Despite my daughter’s fears, I decided that staying in the basement was safer than not. I thought of it as a temporary arrangement. I didn't expected the siege to last very long, but it turned out we spent many months there. Everyone from our tenement shared whatever they had and helped each other."
- "One day the soldiers came and told us to get out. They gave everyone a minute or two to evacuate, and then they threw in grenades. People they suspected of helping the rebels were shot on sight. They let us go because Iskra had no one else but me."
Variants
- "The shellings forced many people from our area to cower in their basements. The walls would shake, the plaster would fall off the ceiling. We would huddle down in fear, Iskra in tears. Everyone thought of the possibility of getting buried alive."
- "One day our tenement was hit by a shell. We survived, but our neighbors were less fortunate. Their basement collapsed, burying them underneath tons of rubble. We managed to pull out our neighbor and her son, but her husband was crushed. Iskra saw his mangled body and has had horrible nightmares ever since."
- "After that fateful day, we no longer felt any safer staying in the basement, but we had nowhere to go regardless. Our days became bleak as our supplies dwindled, and every day could be our last. It seemed like the siege would last forever, and I started losing hope of seeing my wife ever again."
- "All this ended, when, one day, soldiers came to our house. They were sweeping the city for rebels and their supporters, throwing grenades into random basements. We weren't there when it happened, but most of our neighbors were killed. We didn't go down there to grab our things. We left, never to come back."
